Mundjuro Station

Mundjuro Station is a remote site located between Julia Creek and Normanton in western Queensland. Tropical Energy Solutions worked closely with the inverter manufacturer Selectronic and electrical contractor NSEW Electrical to deliver a complex project that features the new Selectronic Powerchain feature.

The focus for this project was to deliver a flexible, reliable power solution to a very fluid site. Mundjuro’s occupancy is always changing and can swell from as little as 3 to over 20, when this is coupled with a transient load profile and extreme heat, finding the balance between system capability and capital expense was tricky.

The final single phase system design incorporates 27kWp PV Modules, 3 x Fronius Primo (Selectronic Certified) 8kW string inverters, 3 x Selectronic 7.5kW multimode inverters, 66kWh GenZ lithium battery bank and a 24kW Kubota diesel generator. The system is connected to a remote monitoring system and can be viewed and controlled from anywhere an internet connection is available.

All component are housed in a custom fit out refrigerated shipping container. This was a challenge in its own right as the container was already onsite and the project timeline did not allow for onsite manufacturing of the internal fit out and wiring. To overcome this, a container mock-up was constructed in Tropical Energy Solutions Townsville based workshop. The entire installation was constructed, pre-wired and tested before being flat packed and transported to site.
